Tell us a little bit about yourself
I was born in El Salvador (Central America) and my parents immigrated to Canada when I was 11 years old. I have lived in Canada most of my life until I completed my PhD. I then travelled to Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. When I returned from my travels, I interviewed for a position at the RIVM and moved to Utrecht in February 2008.
Why did you decide to join Rotary?
Given my humble background, I have always wanted to find ways to help those who are less fortunate. I was a member of the NewMarket Rotary Club in Canada for several years and as soon as I moved to Holland, I contacted the district governor. After attending several meetings, I immediately joined. Our club is very welcoming, energetic, generous and fun.
Are you active in any committees?
Yes, I am a member of the community service committee.
Do you have any hobbies?
I love traveling, running and dancing.
