Becoming a member
The Recruitment and Classification committee is responsible for looking for people who would be good members of the club.
The first step is to organise a meeting for you with two members of the committee. The purpose of this meeting is to give you information about the club, and to get to know you. For this you are asked to fill in a form beforehand. This talk with the committee is without obligation on either side.
The next step is to invite you to visit three club meetings. Again the purpose is to allow you to get to know the members of the club, and vice versa, and the way the club works.
The Recruitment and Classification committee has the responsibility to maintain the balance of the club with regard to the number of men and women and the distribution of club members in terms of nationality, age, profession etc. In addition the committee will only invite one potential new member to come to a club meeting at a time. This is to ensure that you receive the full attention of the members. This does mean unfortunately that if several people are interested in joining the club at a time, there can be delays before you can be invited.
While you are attending the three meetings of the club, one of the members of the recruitment committee will act as your contact person to keep in touch.
After you have been to three meetings, you must decide whether to become a member or not. The Recruitment and Classification committee makes a recommendation to the club, and the final decision is taken by the club board.
Every new member is expected to give a talk in the series “Sharing a cross cultural experience” and to take an active part in one of the club committees.
The Rotary organisation expects members to attend at least 60% of club meetings.
