Recently another donation was made to dr. Nkurunziza, eye surgeon at the Fort Portal Referral Hospital in Uganda. 200 surgery knives were acquired – crescent and slit knives – which are not available in Uganda and are essential for cataract surgeries. During the operation a clouded lens is replaced by an artificial lens, allowing patients to see clearly again. The club received a heartening reaction from dr. Nkurunziza stating that this contribution helps to give the vision back to 1000 people! Dr. Nkurunizizi has promised to send us some pictures and we hope to post them on our website soon.

Each year RCUI orders the surgery knives in the Indian laboratory Aurolab from where they are delivered directly to the hospital in Uganda.
