Our club member Doğa Akkoc will introduce herself to the club by sharing her own Cross Cultural Experience.

For this event, taking place on Rotary World Polio Day, we have invited former club members who still live in the Utrecht region. The aim is to share the plans and situation of our club and to get to know, who would like to be engaged in projects and to stay informed about future events. After a first ‘save the date’ mail in July with information about the event, we received a lot of positive reactions. On the evening of the event, we were happy to see many former members, including our very first club president Bart van Meegen. We also welcomed our newest member, Jeff Thornton, at this meeting.

During her time at LSU she worked as a researcher, teaching assistant, and competed with the school’s rowing team.

An informal evening to share very practical ideas (applicable to our day-to-day life) regarding how to do things in a more sustainable way (ex: how to cook/shop/travel/… more sustainably). It could be around the 4Rs (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Repair).

Each member is invited to share at least one idea! What do you already do that is a practice other people could get inspired by? 😉

About the topic: The Griffioen Wassenaar perennial plant nursery was founded in 1923, originally for the cultivation of perennials now in square 1.4 litre P11 pots, for sale via garden centres in north-west Europe.

Griffioen grows millions of perennials every year. All these plants get a spot in natural surroundings. Even as they are growing, the plants are very attractive for bees and other beneficial insects, who feast on their nectar and pollen. In the garden and the public space, the plants then go on to play an important role for many years.
