Plan Einstein is an initiative from the city council of Utrecht with several different stakeholders from the city. We aim to give refugees a good start in our city and connect them to people from Utrecht. On the other hand is Plan Einstein also a place where people from Utrecht can develop themselves personally and professionally and broaden their networks.
Dr. Leendert de Bell is professor for sustainable labour participation of vulnerable groups (in particular refugees) at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) and is academic staff member at the Centre for Entrepreneurship at Utrecht University (UU). He obtained his PhD in International Development Studies at Utrecht University and has extensive international experience in research and training for both private and public sector organisations. His current research mainly focuses on issues related to inclusive employment, social entrepreneurship, and international migration. He has been involved with the Plan Einstein initiatives from the start in 2017.
Marcellien Breedveld: Empowering Lives, Building Futures
Marcellien Breedveld is a social entrepreneur, life coach and trainer with a holistic vision for empowering individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Drawing from her extensive experience abroad, including Kosovo, Morocco and Ghana, Marcellien’s work has focused on small business development and fostering entrepreneurship in multicultural settings.
Since the inception of Plan Einstein in 2017, she has been a driving force behind transformative programs like ‘Build Your Own Future’ and ‘Women Empower’ aimed at newcomers, refugees and Utrecht residents.

Policy officer and project manager from Municipality of Utrecht.
Involved in Plan Einstein since 2017. First as a neighbourhood advisor and later as project manager. Educated as an urban geographer at Utrecht University, she worked within the municipality of Utrecht on themes like: safety, spatial development, participation, inclusion, integration and now the reception of newcomers.
