16.00: All walkers meet at Jeff’s home to fill our water bottles, etc.
16.00 – 17.30: Leisurely walk in the nearby Gooise Natuur Reservaat (this part is of course optional for those without the time or interest 😉
17.30 – 18.00: Start of our Pot-luck style dinner
20.30: Wrap up and start return trips to Naarden-Bussum
Pot-luck style dinner
- Number of participants needs to be clearly set in advance so that we can agree on type of dishes that will be brought by each person (example types: salad; main; side; desert).
- Each participant will contribute one dish to be shared with the rest of the guests. In this way, dietary preferences can be easily managed.
- In addition to Jeff’s kitchen, his gas grill will be available for food preparation.
- Drink arrangements to be discussed.
- (Please note that Jeff and Sonja have a very friendly dog.)

Directions by bus from Amersfoort Central station — 15 mins bus ride, Bus Nbr 2 (richting Nieuwland), Stop at Bus Stop BIESVAREN, 3 mins walk to Karen’s house. Cross Road to Wateranonkel, turn 2nd left Waterdrieblad. Karen’s house has 2 Olive Trees in front (close to the cul-de-sac); cannot miss it! 😉
In the first part of the meeting, our member Alexandra will share her background from a cross-cultural experience.
In the second part, we will be honored by Michael Butz, club president of RC Meinerzhagen, Germany. Michael will give a short introduction to his club with emphasis on their experience with club partnerships. We hope to reserve some time to have an exchange on an intended partnership between our clubs.
This week, we will have a special guest: Bauke Boersma, member RC Utrecht-West, former District Governor D 1570 (2018-2019), Council Representative, District and National Water Commissioner, next to different other functions. Bauke, since many years, is one of the most active and successful ‘project managers’ within Rotary in the Netherlands, initiating and guiding big projects, including Global Grant funded projects, national and international. In his presentation he will show the example of the latest Water and WASH project in Tanzania. But most of the time we will have the chance to exchange, ask for advice, networking and sponsoring suggestions for our own ASAP project in Burkina Faso. We are happy that we found Bauke ready to come and present for our club.

This week, we will be honored by a high level visit from ASAP foundation. We will get to know more about who they are, what they do and how RCUI can contribute to their efforts.
With the natural evolution of an international club like ours, with a high turnover of members, it’s a perfect time to revisit this topic. The last time was roughly 5 years ago; half of those members are no longer with us, and many of you have joined us since! A clear identity will guide us in many ways, from attracting potential members to aligning priorities and fundraising projects. When we know who we are (and want to be), it becomes much easier to decide what we want to focus on (and what we don’t).
This promises to be an important, exciting, and lively session that requires your presence and active participation. Please make an effort to attend and arrive by 18:00 for the chance to mingle and chat.
