Empowering Women in Agriculture After Destructive Earthquake
On February 6, 2023, at 04:17, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Kahramanmaraş, Turkey; it was followed by a second earthquake at 13:24 with a magnitude of 7.6. According to official figures, these earthquakes resulted in the loss of 53,537 lives and left 107,213 people injured in 11 provinces.
The funds that we collect in our fundraising activities and donations, will be transferred to RC Kusadasi. This club is working with the local municipality of Hatay to identify the women to support with this initiative. A local NGO is also active indirectly with the purchase of the crops produced by the women farmers – in exchange the women have a guaranteed “customer “which purchases their produce in return for a guaranteed income of 300 USD/month. Our aim is to raise 1600 euros in order to donate enough potatoes to plant 5000 m2.
