Education, Hygiene, EmpowerHer
The EmpowerHer project, in partnership with the ASAP Foundation, is dedicated to improving the lives of girls in Burkina Faso through essential hygiene, sanitation, and menstrual education. Our goal is to create a safer, more inclusive environment for girls, enabling them to stay in school and thrive without the barriers that poor sanitation and lack of resources often impose. We have set an ambitious goal to raise €20,000 in celebration of our Lustrum year.
Our initiatives include:
- Washable Menstrual Protection Kits: We aim to distribute 40 washable protection kits per school (15 schools in total) to help girls manage their menstruation, allowing them to attend school with confidence. By providing these reusable kits, we will enable girls to continue their education without disruption, improving their self-esteem and overall hygiene.
- Menstruation and Hygiene Awareness: To address the lack of education around menstruation and hygiene, we will hold awareness meetings in the 15 primary schools, educating all students on hygiene and teaching girls in the final three years about menstruation. This initiative will reach around 3,000 students and 750 girls, to reduce stigma and improve hygiene practices.
- Tiled Latrines: We aim to build blocks of 3 tiled latrines in 4 primary schools, serving around 100 girls per school. These clean and sanitary facilities are critical, providing a safe space for girls, especially during menstruation. What’s special about this initiative is that the local community will actively participate in the construction, with villagers providing labor—this promotes ownership and sustainability.

With these initiatives, we aim to ensure that girls are not held back by the lack of basic necessities like safe sanitation, menstrual products, or education on menstruation. By keeping them in school, we’re fostering better health, educational attainment, and greater confidence, empowering these young girls to pursue their dreams.
Join us in raising €20,000 to support these crucial projects and help change the lives of girls in Burkina Faso. Your contribution will provide the infrastructure, knowledge, and materials they need to thrive.
